(A strut and girder
type paper construction set for free)
I have started
something new. I don't know how far I will get before other interests
call me away so I thought I might present what I have as a work in progress.
I started out
with a simple idea. Somewhere, I thought to myself, there is a kid (or
kid at heart) sitting in a room with a computer with a printer and an
Internet connection. Bored out of his or her mind. Perhaps this child
is trapped in an office building after school while their parent is
catching up on something boring. This poor lonely child looking desperately
around for something to do that's fun as well as quiet. But most of
the good websites are blocked by the company fire wall or a net nanny.
A long search reveals only a pair of scissors and a bottle of Elmer's
glue. What could this poor child do. After searching the web for anything
to do to pass the time, the child finally enters a search engine and
does a search for Free Paper Toys. One of the first links they see is
for www.ss42.com Free Paper Toys.
There they find
cars and trucks and airplanes of all kinds. Towns and villages, Animals
and flowers, even paper dolls. But after trying many of these toys,
as cool as they are, the child discovers that most of these toys recommend
printing on good card stock paper. But the only paper available is that
cheap flimsy kind of paper you find in every office printer. The kind
made for printing those boring reports that seem to be the point of
office buildings. And that is where This idea comes in.
A complete set
of construction pieces designed to rely on that cheap crummy paper.
I have worked out some of the details for this construction set but
it seems to be taking forever to write the instructions for the finished
models. I have created standard sizes of lumber that can be used to
construct a wide variety of structures using mostly 90 and 45 degree
angles. I am working now on wheels, cams, and the elusive axle. Gears
seem possible but they may take some time too. So for now I am granting
you access to the same tools that I am using to create the toys themselves.
I am sure that many of our visitors child, and parent will enjoy the
potential my construction set will provide. Feel free to contact me
with any designs you have created. My goal for now is to create good
Free Paper Toys for children of all ages.
